District Court

Generally, District Courts handle the following matters: landlord-tenant cases; land contract disputes; misdemeanor criminal offenses; civil lawsuits (less than $25,000); small claims cases ($6,500 or less); civil municipal infractions; civil traffic infractions; and civil weddings.

Some counties have multiple District Courts. For more information about which District Court jurisdiction you live in, review the map on the State Court Administrative Office’s website. For more information, call your local District Court or visit its website.
